Ingredients
- 2 slices of Texas toast bread
- 1/2 cup chicken salad
- 1 slice provolone cheese
- Butter
Cooking Guide
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F
- Prep the bread: Butter one side of each bread slice and toast in a toaster or skillet until golden brown. (toasting the bread before ensures the bread won’t get soggy)
- Assemble the sandwich: Place a slice of cheese on one of the toasted bread slices. Top with the chicken salad.
- Bake the sandwich: Place the sandwich on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Top with the remaining toasted bread slice and enjoy immediately.
Optional additions:
- Different Breads: you can use your favorite type of bread-- sourdough or a croissant are fun options!
- Different Cheeses: We used sliced provolone, but use your favorite! Sliced mozzarella, American, cheddar, pepper-jack-- whatever goes with the flavor you prefer!
- Add-ins: For extra flavor, consider adding sliced tomato, lettuce, red onion, or a dollop of mustard or mayonnaise.
- Add Spice: Add some giardiniera or giardiniera relish for a little kick!
- Extra proteins: you can try adding crispy bacon or a fried egg for extra protein
- Side dishes: Pair your chicken salad melt with a side of chips, soup, or a fresh salad.
